Board of Education Budget Hearing

Monday, Sept 12, 2022 - 7:30 p.m.

Bancroft, NE

 

The Bancroft-Rosalie School Board of Education met for the Budget Hearing at the Bancroft-Rosalie School on Monday, Sept 12, 2022. Board President Mike Nottlemann called the Budget Hearing meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. with the following members present: Trevor Bonneau, Pam Browning, Pat Browning, Casey Novak, Mike Nottlemann, and Jason Wortman. Also present were Superintendent Jon Cerny and High School Principal Kyle Elsasser, Director of the Elementary, Karin Vogt, Stephanie Henry BREA Representative and Kristine Buchholz for the public.

 

Notice of the meeting was published in the Wisner News Chronicle five days prior to the meeting.

 

President Nottlemann informed the public that the Open Meetings Act is posted on the north wall of the library.

 

Superintendent Cerny presented the proposed 2022-2023 School Budget to the board with comparison to the 2021-2022 School budget.

 

The board discuss the proposed budget and asked for public input. President Nottlemann closed the Budget Hearing.

Board of Education Tax Request Hearing

Monday, Sept 12, 2022 - 7:45 p.m.

Bancroft, NE

 

The Bancroft-Rosalie School Board of Education met for the Tax Request Hearing at the Bancroft-Rosalie School on Monday, Sept 12, 2022. Board President Mike Nottlemann called the Tax Request Hearing to order at 7:45 p.m. with the following members present: Trevor Bonneau, Pam Browning, Pat Browning, Casey Novak, Mike Nottlemann, and Jason Wortman. Also present were Superintendent Jon Cerny and High School Principal Kyle Elsasser, Director of the Elementary, Karin Vogt, Stephanie Henry BREA Representative and Kristine Buchholz for the public.

 

Notice of the meeting was published in the Wisner News Chronicle five days prior to the meeting.

 

President Nottlemann informed the public that the Open Meetings Act is posted on the north wall of the library.

 

The Board discussed the 2022-2023 Tax Request.

 

The board asked for public input on the proposed tax request President Nottlemann closed the Tax Request Hearing.

Board of Education Meeting

Monday, Sept 12, 2022 - 8 p.m.

Bancroft, NE

 

The Bancroft-Rosalie School Board of Education met in regular session at Bancroft- Rosalie Schools on Monday, Sept. 8 p.m., with the following members present: Trevor Bonneau, Pam Browning, Pat Browning, Casey Novak, Mike Nottlemann, and Jason Wortman. Also present were Superintendent Jon Cerny and High School Principal Kyle Elsasser, Director of the Elementary, Karin Vogt, Stephanie Henry BREA Representative and Kristine Buchholz for the public.

President Nottlemann informed the public that the Open Meetings Act is posted on the north wall of the library.

 

A motion was made by Bonneau, seconded by Novak to approve the minutes of the August 9, 2022 board meeting as presented. Discussion. RCV: Ayes 6 Opposed – 0. Motion carried.

 

A motion was made by Novak seconded by Bonneau to allow payment of the invoices from the general fund. Discussion. RCV: Ayes – 6, Opposed – 0. Motion carried.

 

Superintendent Cerny gave the financial review: Summary of accounts: End of August cash balance $1,1,669,339.56; Receipts $243,550.47; Disbursements

$415,103.96; Building Fund checking $308,559.22; Depreciation Fund checking

$86,284.06; Quality Capital Fund $334,707.46; Activity Fund $71,600.82 and Hot Lunch Fund $38.870.96.

 

During the public hearing, Kristine Buchholz presented an opportunity to join the Nebraska Community Foundation. She would like a copy of the Strategic Plan Report once it is complete.

 

David Branch of Cuming County Economic Development was present with the agreement for the development of the duplexes. The motion was made by Novak and second by Pam Browning to approve the agreement. Ayes-6 Opposed-0, Motion carried.

 

The Superintendent’s Report included the August Transportation Report, land valuations for 2023 compared to 2022, the NASB district meeting and state conference, the Option Enrollment Report, and the policy on overtime when staff use leave days.

 

The Principal’s Report included back to school night with preschool-12th grade including all the information given to parents. Staff development with Mike Feit of

 

ESU 2 presenting on 5 different modules on Classroom Culture. Students and coaches went to Life of an Athlete in Wakefield. Twenty-five students and Mr. Elsasser and various coaches attended. Focuses were on Lack of Sleep, Nutrition, and Substance Abuse. Principal Elsasser also gave an update on Senior Fridays.

 

There was no Old Business to report.

 

In new business, a motion was made by Novak seconded by Pat Browning to approve the district budget and the property tax request for the 2022-23 school year. Discussion. RCV: Ayes – 6, Opposed – 0. Motion carried.

 

The board discussed the purchase of a vehicle from Special Education funds. A motion was made by Bonneau and seconded by Wortman to approve the purchase of a Chevy Malibu. Ayes-6, Opposed-0. Motion carried.

 

The board discussed action on putting a rubber surface on areas used to practice track field events.

 

The board discussed the Strategic Planning sessions. Dr. Cerny will review planning services and have options for the board to consider in October.

 

A motion was made by Bonneau and seconded by Pam Browning to move to Executive Session at 9:24 p.m. to discuss personnel matters. Ayes-6, Opposed-0. Motion carried.

 

The board came out of executive session at 9:45 p.m. President Nottlemann adjourned the meeting at 9:45 p.m.

The next regular board meeting will be Monday, October 10, 2022 at 7:30 p.m.
