Bancroft-Rosalie Community School Board of Education Meeting

Monday, Oct. 10, 2022 - 7:30 p.m.

Bancroft, NE

 

The Bancroft-Rosalie School Board of Education met in regular session at Bancroft-Rosalie Schools on Monday, Oct. 10, 2022. Board President Mike Nottlemann called the regular meeting to order at 7:30 p.m., with the following members present: Trevor Bonneau, Pam Browning, Pat Browning, Mike Nottlemann, Casey Novak, and Jason Wortman Also present were Superintendent Jon Cerny, High School Principal, Kyle Elsasser, Director of the Elementary, Karin Vogt, James Hulstein and Joy Nolting, BREA Representatives.

 

Notice of the meeting was published in the Wisner News Chronicle five days prior to the meeting.

 

President Nottlemann informed the public that a current copy of the “Open Meetings Act” is posted on the north wall of the library.

 

Motion was made by Bonneau, seconded by Novak to approve the minutes of the Sept. 12, 2022 board meetings as presented. Ayes 6, Nayes 0. The motion was carried.

 

Motion was made by Pam Browning, seconded by Bonneau to approve the bills. Ayes 6, Nayes 0. The motion was carried.

 

Superintendent Cerny gave the financial review: Summary of accounts: End of September cash balance $1,980,760.30; Receipts $872,612.67; Disbursements $561,192.93; Building Fund checking $320,098.47; Depreciation Fund checking $86,284.06; Quality Capital Fund $354,847.22; Activity Fund $55,006.93, and Hot Lunch Fund $13,464.24.

 

During board committee reports, the board discussed meeting with the B-R teachers for negotiations.

 

Motion was made by Nottlemann, seconded by Pam Browning to approve the agenda. Ayes, 6 Nayes, 0

 

There was no one present to speak during the public hearing.

 

The Superintendent’s Report consisted of the September transportation report, NASB Conference, meeting with architect October 18 (Bob Soukup- Carlson, West, Povondra), ACTEN – CareerTech Vision Conference on Nov. 30- Dec. 3, Sioux City Explorers tickets- Nov. 2, and paras as substitute teachers.

 

The Principal’s Report consisted of upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences and safety inspections. The inspector will send a formal report. Mr. Elsasser and Mrs. Ras met with Northeast Community College to discuss our students receiving their associate degree. A representative from NECC will visit to discuss this with the students soon. Sophomores will go to Career Day at WSU and seniors will take the ACT the same day.

 

In old business, the strategic planning was discussed. Superintendent Cerny will meet with a contractor.

 

A request was submitted by Jason Wortman to accept his resignation as a member of the Bancroft-Rosalie School Board. A motion was made by Bonneau and seconded by Novak to accept his recognition. The board regretfully approved the resignation of Jason Wortman and thanked him for his time serving the position.

In new business, the board reviewed the school insurance and transportation reports.

 

Motion was made by Novak, seconded by Bonneau to recognize Bancroft-Rosalie Education Association as the exclusive bargaining agent for the teachers for the coming 2023-24 school year. Ayes 5, Nayes 0. The motion was carried.

 

The next regular board meeting will be Monday, Nov. 14, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. Meeting adjourned at 8:17 p.m.
