If visitors walk in the building about 8:20 a.m., they will see students walking from one classroom to the other. All of our classrooms use a Direct Instruction program, and students are placed at their correct level of difficulty. This means students walk to a group that fits that student’s needs and challenges them accordingly.

If students are performing below grade level, they will be challenged and taught so they return to grade level or beyond as quickly as they can. If students are above grade level, they are put into groups at that level and challenged there.
At B-R, we use quite a few different sources to group children and identify the needs of our students. Most of the time, these sources support each other. At times, we identify more needs or successes of children with those sources. This all just supports our grouping decisions and our teaching. Basically, we use the data from all of our sources of assessments to make sure our instruction meets the needs of each and every student.

The first few weeks of school, students completed placement tests, NWEA MAP Assessments and DIBELS Reading and Math assessments. The students were amazing during all those assessments.
