3rd graders already learning lots

There are 27 third graders this year. Students "walk" to reading, language, spelling and math groups at their appropriate levels. Mrs. Brummond and Mrs. Zwygart share teaching the other third grade curriculum areas. Being a third grader brings some exciting "first" experiences for the students. Writing in cursive is a fun new skill the students seem to enjoy learning. Mrs. Zwygart's third grade math group is becoming familiar with their new Saxon math curriculum. This will also be the first year these students will take the MAPS tests and the NeSA (Nebraska State Assessment) tests. The tests are given on the computer. The third graders have already started practicing reading, language and math skills in the computer lab. Mrs. Buck and Mrs. Brichacek help them use the laptops to cover concepts and get used to using the computers for testing. Lots of learning is happening in third grade already this year!
