Dr. Jon Cerny has been at Bancroft-Rosalie Community School since 1982. He began as the 7-12 science teacher, became activities director in 1984 and principal in 1987. He was named Superintendent in 1993. He has been head football coach for 30 years and teaches Chemistry. His wife, Carol, works as a substitute paraprofessional and van driver for the school. They have two daughters who both graduated from Bancroft-Rosalie: Elizabeth and Jessica, who both live in Lincoln. Dr. Cerny received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1982 and a Master of Science in Education degree from Wayne State College in 1987. He received a specialization in Educational Administration and Supervision Degree from UNL in 1992. Dr. Cerny received a Doctor of Education Degree in Administration, Curriculum and Instruction from UNL in 1998. Dr. Cerny serves on several state and local committees, including Nebraska State Longitudinal Data System Policy Advisory Committee 2012, Nebraska Rural Community Schools Assoc. Scholarship/Recognition Committee 2012 and executive committee 2013, Nebraska School Activities Association District III Managing Committee, Sec-Treasurer 2011, Cuming County Economic Development Board of Directors 2010, Northeast Community College Perkins Advisory Committee 2009, Northeast Nebraska Career Academy Board of Directors 2008-10, Cuming County Visitors Bureau 2007, Chairman 2010, John G. Neihardt Foundation Board of Directors 2005, President 2008, National Governor's Association Career Technical Education Task Force 2008-09 and Bancroft-Rosalie Community School Foundation Board President 2004. In addition, Dr. Cerny is a certified EMT on the Bancroft Rescue and umpires American Legion baseball.
