Best of the best

It’s the definition of a comeback.

Last season, they had more losses than wins—a lot more—but not this year. Members of the third and fourth grade youth football team ended the season with a perfect record. Yah, that’s right, perfect!

If that’s not impressive enough, the fifth and sixth grade team went undefeated, too. A feat they have claimed ever since joining the youth football league.

This year was the first year that the teams combined with Lyons-Decatur to become the B-R/L-D Wildcats. And what a successful coop it was.

The younger team went 5-0 and was made up of 10 third graders (seven being from B-R) and 15 fourth graders (10 from B-R).  They are third graders Baxter Beutler, Landon Buck, Tristen Coates, Jackson Cooney, Logan Kramer, Matthew Polenske and Ross Tremayne from B-R and Braiden Hegge, Landon Redding and Tate Simonsen from L-D and fourth graders Kole Bacon, Alec Bonneau, Hunter Carpenter, Michael Cooney, Mason Dolezal, Cale Kai, Elijah Nelson, Elliott Nottlemann, Seth Pierce and Owen VanKirk from B-R and Kaiden Bunn, Trevor Cole, Kaden Frahm, Trexton Frahm and Daven Whitley from L-D.

Calling the plays were Jason Frahm, Matt Kai, Jake Carpenter, Troy Kramer and Jesse Frahm.

The older boys went 6-0 with help from coaches Brad Vogt, Todd Anderson and Waylon Carlson.

The team was made up of seven 5th graders (three from B-R) and 10 sixth graders (seven from B-R). The fifth graders are Colten Briggs, Gus Gomez and Caden Hansen from B-R and Luke Ronnfeldt, Theodore Smith, Tyler Vavra and Jaden Whitaker from L-D.

Playing their last season in the league were Dylan Beutler, Tyler Gatzemeyer, Kayden Henneman, Brandon Ison, Aidan Nelson, Isaiah Snyder and Lucas Vogt from B-R and Brennan Ferguson, Zach Hegge and Derek Petersen from L-D.
