Trio picked for Boys, Girls State

The Fletcher Farley American Legion Post 191 of Bancroft has selected Luke Kramer as their representative to Boys State, and Kelsey Larsen and Tyra Bonneau have been selected to represent American Legion Auxiliary Unit 191. All three will be seniors at Bancroft-Rosalie this fall.

Kramer is the son of Troy and Tara Kramer of Rosalie, Larsen is the daughter of Laura and Gregg Murphy of rural Walthill, and Bonneau is the daughter of Barry and Lauri Bonneau of rural Bancroft.

The three attended activities at the University of Nebraska Lincoln this week. Boys and Girls State have nearly 400 participants each. The curriculum is designed to instruct students on the workings of government and to help them further develop standards of citizenship and civic responsibility. Activities include the creation of imaginary governments that allow participants to experience running for office and various governing practices.

The three B-R students will join a long-standing tradition, as Boys State has been in action since 1935 and Girls State was added in 1939.
