Remembering warmer days

The kindergarteners at Bancroft-Rosalie took their fall field trip to Master’s Hand Candles in Tekamah and Harvest Moon Pumpkin Patch at Oakland.

Once the students arrived at Master's Hand, they got a tour of the gift shop and received a quick lesson on flowers and bows. They then got to take turns going in the flower cooler to check out the flower arrangements on display. After learning about flowers, the students got to learn about candle making. Each student got to smell the different candle scents and decide which scents they liked the best. Then, the class was given the chance to taste the different types of chocolate and jellybeans. One of the kindergartener’s favorite parts of the visit was when Miss Susie helped each of them dip their own pretzel in chocolate so they could decorate it as they wished. Their pretzels were then bagged and sent home with them.

In the afternoon, the children visited the pumpkin patch near Oakland. After eating their sack lunches, the class broke into small groups to explore the many activities.

This year’s favorite activities included getting to ride on the school bus to the pumpkin patch, playing in the pirate ship and grocery store areas, jumping on the two jumping pillows and playing in the corn pit. The students also spent time riding zip lines, driving trikes and go-karts, going through the corn maze, petting animals, swinging on the spider swings, going down the barn slides, riding the small roller coaster cars, playing in the sports barn, putting on puppet shows, walking through the scarecrow forest, and maneuvering the new giant tubes down the tracks like a hamster wheel.

The B-R kindergarteners and staff would like to thank the parents and grandparents for helping chaperone.
