Checkiday
Are you interested in holidays? A what, why, when and where event that happened on a particular date and was there an aftermath after the fact? A person can find the answer to these questions by going to checkiday.com.
Checkiday (chek-ih-day, a mashup of "Check" and "Holiday") was founded on Feb. 12, 2011 by Seth Westphal. Although the internet contained a fair amount of holiday lists at the time, none of them seemed complete, were able to show you just today's holidays or were easily searchable. Checkiday was created with the goal to be the world's most complete holiday listing that would automatically update to show you today's holidays. Checkiday currently has at least 4,400 unique holidays on its site that has been verified for authenticity, more than double that of their closest competitor.
Throughout the years, Checkiday has been featured on television, radio, podcasts, blogs, in newspapers, books and has been trusted by teachers in classrooms of all levels. It also has a large social media presence with an abundance of followers on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest and more. The website has been used by more than 20 million people and reach tens of thousands of users everyday!
Checkiday simply tells you what holidays are being celebrated on any day as well as multi-day events like week, month and year-long observations. Clicking on a holiday tells you more about it. Check it out and share your favorite holidays with your friends.
