5 Panthers picked for summer seminars

Five soon-to-be juniors were selected to attend two different leadership seminars during their school hiatus this summer.

Bailey Hayes and Micah Henschen were picked to attend the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar (HOBY) at Concordia and Emma Beutler, Audra Nolting and Brooklyn Nolting were chosen to represent B-R at the Nebraska Leadership Seminar (NLS) at Southeast Community College in Milford.

HOBY features leadership activities designed from three perspectives: personal leadership, group leadership and leadership for society. NLS aims to help students discover their personal strengths by answering key questions about who they are, how they lead, why they lead and what they will contribute as a leader.

Putting their leadership skills to work at B-R, the five will be part of a student group working to positively influence student culture. The group has been working with Superintendent Dr. Cerny to develop a program that will provide opportunities for students to participate in activities that promote ethics and integrity.

As part of this movement, senior Kelsey Larsen, a 2018 HOBY delegate, helped the girls' athletic teams develop and adopt a creed showing their commitment to high standards of character and integrity on and off the field or court.
