Preschoolers keep busy

The preschoolers celebrated Grandparents Day by inviting our grandparents to visit us at preschool. We were very proud to show off how big we are to be in school and to show grandma and grandpa off to each of their friends.

Homecoming last fall brought us Spirit Week, and many of our preschoolers participated throughout the week. Some were dressed as the opposite gender, a mathlete or athlete, a different age (generation day), in the color red for color day and in our school colors.

We also had our first field trip. We hopped on the big yellow school bus and headed to Harvest Moon Pumpkin Patch. Mrs. Wallersted and her crew were so welcoming, and the children got the pumpkin patch all to themselves. We are very lucky to have such an amazing place only 20 minutes away. On Halloween, we headed up to the big school and had a costume parade.

As we headed into November, we learned about veterans and soldiers through reading books and making army men/women in art. We spent the rest of the month talking about Thanksgiving and what we are thankful for. We were also very fortunate to be able to visit the town library. There, they were read to and did an activity based on what stories were read.

Before school let out for Christmas break, the preschoolers hosted "Gingerbread Houses with Mom," and everyone had a fun time making the houses and eating the ingredients.

Of course, throughout the season, they continued to work hard on all the letters, numbers, shapes, colors as well as fine and gross motor skills,  social skills and personal care (such as independence in the bathroom, zipping coats and putting on mittens). I am very proud of this hardworking group of kids.
