Beak competition
The biology students in Mrs. Henry's class recently learned about ecology and how living things interact with one another and the non-living components of their environment.
These biology students simulated a model in which different birds with various beak types were competing for food sources. Each student in a group had to pick a different type of beak and had to fight for food in their environment. Students learned how competition can drive natural selection and evolution and that a change in the environment can cause a change in the number and type of species living in a particular ecosystem.
