Art teacher is impressed

The B-R art students have been keeping themselves busy during the first semester of school.
The Advanced Art class is working on various projects. In fact, junior Zoe Sjuts has finished a charcoal drawing of a girl looking up out of the darkness into a light shining down on her. The contrast and detail in this drawing is what makes this project good, and she did a good job with that, said art instructor Mr. Cory Meyer.
Fellow classmate Sara Merritt also has finished an oil pastel drawing of a buffalo. The color and blending she did was done very well, and the bright colors in this drawing will catch a lot of attention in the art contests throughout the year, Meyer said.
Senior Vicki Gatzemeyer finished a pencil drawing of hands sculpting a clay pot on a potter's wheel. Her attention to detail, her shading and highlights make it look as if the hands are wet.
The Art I students are continuing to work on and improve their drawing skills. They finished a drawing of a man in a chair reading a book where they needed to use all five basic skills of drawing: edges, space, relationships, lights/shadows and the whole.
