Students prepping for college
College Credit
In cooperation with Northeast Community College, Nebraska Wesleyan, Wayne State College and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Bancroft-Rosalie students are enrolled in a combined total of about 230 hours of college credit this fall. A total of 35 students currently have some form of dual enrollment.
Additionally, scholarship opportunities both through the school and from outside organizations have made it possible for students to earn college credit without incurring any personal expenses. A 2014 study from the American Institute for Research found that earning college credit in high school correlates with higher college enrollment rates and more likelihood that students earn college degrees, so this is an important first step for B-R students.
EducationQuest Apply2College
EducationQuest is again holding their Apply2College event in Nebraska’s high schools. Schools are encouraged to pick a date to encourage students to get online and apply to at least one college.
Bancroft-Rosalie conducted its Apply2College event in August. Students in the financial literacy class spent the period applying to colleges. EducationQuest provided the school a banner for publicity and students with “I Applied” stickers similar to the ones given for citizens who vote.
