Pair attend leadership camp

Two Bancroft-Rosalie elementary students, Logan Kramer and Alix Nolting, were selected to attend the 2017 Future Leaders of America, a three-day leadership program held earlier this month at West Point Public Schools for 5th and 6th grade students.

The camp, which ended with a short presentation for parents, was designed to help students further develop leadership skills and to recognize their strengths as well as the strengths of others.

Small teams of five to six were paired with high school volunteer counselors. Sandy Luebbe, the WPPS Middle School Counselor, was the event organizer. She gathered 22 student nominations from nine area schools as well as camp counselors and sponsors to support the events and activities. Materials were provided for the camp from the University of Nebraska.

Camp counselors shared qualities of each student in attendance and how that contributed to their small group. Students also displayed posters on how to be “difference makers” when they return to their schools.

Sponsors were CharterWest Bank, Citizens State Bank, F&M Bank, Harry Knobbe Feedyards and Valmont – West Point Galvanizing. Lunch for the camp was sponsored by Subway and Pizza Ranch.
