B-R holds first-ever E-Day

'Love-hate relationship'

One day last month, students and staff at Bancroft-Rosalie did something they had never done before.

What they did was participate in the first-ever E-Day. So while staff was undergoing professional development at the school, the majority of students were completing online assignments at home. The following is a snapshot of what went on in Mrs. Nolting's Computer Applications class.

Leading up to the E-Day, students in Computer Applications were working with PowerPoint. Just like with other projects, students anonymously peer review another students' work to give suggestions before submitting their final project. A rough draft of the current project was due on Nov. 21. For the E-Day on Nov. 22, Canvas randomly assigned three other student’s project to review. Following their reviews, a review game of terms was available on Quizlet to study for the test we would have the next day.

Speaking for my class only, I felt like the E-Day was successful. The peer reviews were constructive and students returned with a positive attitude on Wednesday. A student commented that she had a “love-hate” relationship with the day. She hated getting started, but loved being done for the day.
