B-R to host speech invite, bb games

A handful of activities are on tap here at Bancroft-Rosalie on Saturday, so if you have nothing to do, come on down for a day full of events.

Click here for the B-R Speech Invite Schedule.

The day begins with the invitational speech meet at 8:15 a.m. Eight schools will be represented: B-R, Leigh, Oakland-Craig, Ponca, Stanton, West Point-Beemer, Winnebago and Wisner-Pilger.

Categories include OID, humorous, persuasive, serious, duet, extemporaneous, informative, poetry and entertainment. Finals begin at 1:15 p.m.

“If you want to cheer on your favorite Panther speechies, we'd love to see you,” said speech coach Ronda Ras. “Also, Barb Wegner is making her famous French toast, so even if you aren't a speech fan, come on up for some great food!”

The Panthers will begin EHC basketball play against Pender Saturday night at 6 p.m. at B-R, just a day after the girls matched up against the Lady Pendragons at West Point-Beemer. The second game Saturday night begins at 7:45 between Humphrey/LHF and Madison.

The football and Power Drive teams will sponsor concessions during the basketball games, and the menu will include hamburger, hot dog and super nacho meal deals.

The winner of Saturday’s games will advance to the second round Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at B-R.

Depending on the outcome on Friday night’s game, our girls will play Monday at 6 p.m. in Stanton if they win or Thursday at 6 p.m. at a site yet to be determined.

Consolation and finals of the girls and boys EHC tourney will be held Saturday at Central Community College in Columbus.
