Time to start thinking about scholarships

This is the time of year that seniors are looking at the end of their high school career and looking forward to the next step. For those heading off to the college of their choice, the beginning of the new year means getting financial aid forms completed.

A primary step in that process is completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). This process is no longer on paper but an online application at the following site: www.fafsa.ed.gov. Both seniors and parents need to apply for a PIN (Personal Identification Number).

Any senior who needs help with applying for a PIN, can check with Mrs. Ras or Mrs. Bray. Once taxes are completed, both seniors and parents can complete the FAFSA online. The sooner the FAFSA is completed, the sooner colleges can award money to their incoming freshman students. Help completing the FAFSA can be found on the Educationquest website: www.educationquest.org.

Seniors and parents need to also be aware that local scholarships will be coming available through My E-Learning soon after the beginning of the year. Any senior parent who wants to check out the scholarships can do so from the Bancroft-Rosalie website by choosing the My eLearning.org tab under the Quick Links Menu.

When prompted for a login and password, simply use panther and panther. When signed in, choose Bancroft-Rosalie Scholarships on the left and choose Scholarship Applications on the top tab. The applications will either be a link to the scholarship site or a fillable form. This year all local scholarships will be due in the Guidance Office by Feb. 27.
