Ras will take softball career to next level
Senior standout Suzanne Ras plans to further her softball career after high school and recently signed a letter of intent to play for the Morningside College Mustangs. Watching her sign were her parents, front row from left, Ronda and Gerard Ras as well as her future college coach Jessica Jones-Sitzmann and high school coach Karrie Bodwell from Wisner-Pilger.
One would have thought that Ras was a shoe-in to attend Wayne State College. After all, her mother played softball there and her dad is currently an instructor. But the path led Suzanne to Sioux City, where she will primarily play pitcher but also practice playing first, third and outfield.
During her four years with the Gators, Ras broke numerous team records, including innings pitched, wins in a season and tied for single game strikeouts with 15.
Ras will become the second B-R graduate in recent years to join an athletic team at Morningside. Currently junior Jessica Tietz is a 6-2 forward on the basketball team.
