by Jalen Flock

November 12, 2008

In the last 5 days of the principles of technology class, the students have been making balloon powered cars. The only materials the students were given for this project were balloon and straws.

They had to create their own design. Some of the materials used by students were old cd’s and gatorade lids for the wheels, and styrofoam or wood for the body.  The students were required to have at least 3 wheels on their car and powered by the balloon.

Over this project, the students learned about pressure difference, air force, friction, rolling resistance and drag. The students will present their car to the class and compete against each other. The students will compete based on how fast their car goes and the distance traveled in a straight line.
