Sophomores Go To the Dredge

By: Aaron Brown

November 06, 2008

On October 31st, the Biology class went to the dredge to do a water testing experiment. The experiment involved doing a variety of different water tests. A few tests conducted were for nitrates, phosphates, pH, and dissolved oxygen. Starting in the classroom, then Mr. Slaughter separated us into three groups.

Each group did the assigned tests. The group that I was a part of tested for dissolved oxygen. We filled two small test tubes with water from the dredge. After that we put a few drops of chemicals into it and shook it up. From there we put it into a thing called an axial reader.

It told us the concentration of chemicals in the water. Finally we recorded our results to be discussed back to the school. The class had a fun time and look forward to doing the experiment again. Sophomore Biology Class Does a Hands On Experiment
