Lady Panthers Bring Home the Gold!

After winning Districts the Bancroft-Rosalie Lady Panthers were on their way to victory! B-R was the number one seed entering the State Tournament and also held an undefeated record. The Panthers met trouble in the first round of the State Tournament by number 11 seed, Lawrence-Nelson. They put up a good fight, as they were ahead at the buzzer for half time. But the Panthers showed a great deal of talent and came back from behind and beat Lawrence-Nelson, 55 - 47. After the first round no one stood a chance against B-R. The Lady Panthers swept threw the second round wiping out 5th seed Arapahoe, 75 - 36!!! Not only was the second round a breeze but the Championship game against 2nd seed, Pope John, also was. Ending the first quarter B-R was ahead by 5, making it 18 to 13, still a close game. After half, the Panthers started to slowly pull away, 35 - 26, still a good standing for the Panthers. In third quarter the Lady Panthers out scored the Pope John Crusaders 19pts to 6pts, this made the score 54 - 32. B-R held the Crusaders scoring in the 4th quarter to THREE points!! The final score was 68 - 35. Not only did the Bancroft-Rosalie Lady Panthers win the D-1 2008 State Championship title, but they also ended their season UNDEFEATED!! Not many teams can accomplish this task.

Stats for the Championship game are: Paige G.-17pts, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 5 rebounds; Shelby B.- 16pts, 8 assists, 4 steals, and 6 rebounds; Kalene A.-15pts, 1 assist, 2 steals, and 3 rebounds; Megan S.-11pts, and 3 steals; Molly F.-3pts, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 2 rebounds; Morgan K.-2pts, 1 steal, and 3 rebounds; Amanda M.-1 steal, and 1 rebound; Jessica W.-2pts, 1 steal, and 1 rebound; Chelsey S.-2pts, 1 rebound; Taylor O.-1 steal, 1 rebound; and Brittany B.-1 rebound.
