                        Count odd numbers 1 - 99.

                        Write numbers backwards from 10-0

                        *Practice writing 1 to 1,000 by 1’s.

*Master reading and writing 1 - 500 in order and in mixed order.

1.1.2 by the end of first grade, students will demonstrate ways of representing numbers and compare relations among numbers.

            1.1.2.1:

                        Associate numbers 10 - 100 with objects.

Verbally compare more, less, equal, higher, and lower.

Identify ordinal positions fourth through tenth.

Identify objects divided into fractions of one half, one third, and one fourth.

1.1.3 by the end of first grade, students will identify numbers and applications in everyday situations.

            1.1.3.1:

Recognize and name value of pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters.

Count worth of coins of like value (pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters)

                        to $1.00.

*Compare base ten value using 1 dime and 10 pennies and 10 dimes to

                        one dollar.

1.1.4 by the end of first grade, students will demonstrate the value of numbers (0-20) using concrete objects.

            1.1.4.1:

Demonstrate value of numbers (0 - 100), using concrete objects.

Computation / Estimation

1.2.1 by the end of first grade, students will demonstrate the concepts of addition and subtraction up to 10.

            1.2.1.1:

Add facts to 10 with and without manipulative.

                        *Add two-digit numbers without regrouping.

Subtract facts to 10 with and without manipulative.

                        *Subtract two-digit numbers without regrouping.

Demonstrate the relationship between addition and subtraction:

                        (Fact families Ex: 5,7,12    5+7=12, 7+5=12, 12-7=5, 12-5=7)

1.2.2 by the end of first grade, students will justify estimations to mathematical problems.

            1.2.2.1:

                        Make estimates, evaluate, and revise.

Measurement

1.3.1 by the end of first grade, students will measure two or more items or sets using nonstandard units of measure and compare attributes.

            1.3.1.1:

Compare items or sets using standard and non standard units of measure: (cubes, length, height, weight, and temperature).

1.3.2 by the end of first grade, students will identify tools of measurement and their appropriate use (clocks, calendar, ruler, balance scale, and thermometer).

            1.3.2.1:

Recognize tools and appropriate use to make measurements (ruler,

                        balance scale, and thermometer).

1.3.3 by the end of first grade, students will tell time to the half hour using an analog and digital clock.

            1.3.3.1:

Tell time to the half hour using an analog and digital clock.

*Practice telling time using five minute intervals.

1.3.4 by the end of first grade, students will identify the different units of measurement used in their environment (cents, dollars, pounds, gallons, liters, meters, minutes, and hours).

            1.3.4.1:

Identify different units of measurement in their environment (pounds,

liter, meter, minutes, hours, inches and cups).

1.3.5 by the end of first grade, students will identify past, present, and future as orientations in time.

            1.3.5.1:

Order events using understanding of past, present, future, earlier an later.

Geometry / Spatial Concepts

1.4.1 by the end of first grade, students will compare relative position (left / right, above / below, over / under, up / down, and near / far).

            1.4.1.1:

Demonstrate usage of relative position and spatial relationships (left /right, above / below, and near / far).

1.4.2 by the end of first grade, students will identify, describe, and create circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles.

            1.4.2.1:

Identify, describe, and create circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles.

Data Analysis, Probability, and Statistical Concepts

1.5.1 by the end of first grade, students will collect information about objects and events in their environment (favorite candy bar, number of siblings, and number of pets).

            1.5.1.1:

Count and collect information about objects and events in their environment.

1.5.2 by the end of first grade, students will organize and display collected information using objects and pictures.

            1.5.2.1:

Organize and display collected information using objects and pictures.

1.5.3 by the end of first grade, students will compare and interpret information from displayed data  (more, less, and fewer).

            1.5.3.1:

Compare displayed data using the terms of more, less, and fewer.

1.5.4 by the end of first grade, students will describe the process used in data collection and analysis.
